A grape tub and fizzy drink bottles have been used to solve global warming. The ambitious aim is to extract polluted air from the atmosphere. Air goes through an air cleanser and the pollution is stored on a series of disks. Some of the pollution could even be used to fuel the machine. The clean air is then released via a small hole in the bottom of the grape tub. A truly green machine.
An invention to clean windows will always be close to Wallace & Gromit’s heart. A cardboard tube, coloured paper, a kitchen sponge and yogurt pots were used to make this extendable cleaner. It allows anyone to reach areas other cleaners cannot get too. There are two cleaning surfaces and even a drainage pipe on the cleaner to allow excess water to wash away.
One that is sure to appeal to Gromit – an automatic dog walking and feeding machine. The invention takes the idea of an ordinary running machine a step further. There is a bar at the end with a bone to encourage the dog to keep going. Sensor pads will stop the machine as the dog gets tired. Two large tanks dispense food and water when the Dog It All has stopped. Cling film, bottle tops and crisp containers have all been used for this one.
No more arguing over the washing-up thanks to this machine. One arm of the robot operates a tea towel the other holds the plates. The arms then extend to put the dishes away. Sensors in the eyes spot what needs to be done. A bottle at the top mixes the water and washing-up liquid. Egg boxes, bottles, straws and even a net curtain were used. It has been suggested it might come in handy in the teachers’ staff room.
It might not be the biggest problem, but this head gear takes the work (or what there is of it) away from watching TV. Extendable hands do anything from reaching for the remote control to massaging your face. They will even help you blow your nose. An old builder’s hat supports the arms, drinking straws and a used pair of gloves have also been put to use for this innovation.
