The 2009 – 2010 Cracking Ideas competition which closed earlier this year saw a fantastic 8,994 entries! This jaw dropping total, all featuring cracking ideas for Wallace and Gromit’s next business venture, included the inventive duo in occupations such as running a maintenance company using their own multi-purpose cleaning contraptions, door to door sales of cheese, postal services which also offered dog walking as well as the manufacturing of back-packs that do homework and amazing hairbrushes which sort out your bad hair days!

Sally Long, Education Manager at the Intellectual Property Office commented “We have been truly overwhelmed by the number of Cracking Ideas we have received this year. The competition has attracted so many fantastic ideas for Wallace and Gromit’s next business the innovative pair will never be short of a job! It just goes to show how creative and enterprising children in the UK really are.”

All 8,994 entries are currently being scrutinised by the judges and soon Nick Park will pick the 3 national Cracking Ideas winners. Lucky shortlisted entries and regional winners will be notified early in June and an announcement will be made on the Cracking Ideas website shortly afterwards to let everyone know which cracking ideas for Wallace and Gromit’s next business venture have made the grade.
