This explains our privacy policy and how we will use and protect any information about you that you give us when you visit this website. This privacy statement only covers the Cracking Ideas website. What information do we collect?

If you are a user with general public and anonymous access, the Cracking Ideas website does not capture or store personal information about you but simply logs your IP address, which is automatically recognised by our web server. This is known as a 'log file' which we use to compile site usage statistics.

We collect two kinds of information from visitors to this website: email us your ideas; and registration details.

Email us your ideas

Users within the site are allowed to submit their ideas to the Intellectual Property Office. Ideas submitted to the site may be published on the site or elsewhere, used by the media and will be classified as public knowledge. Therefore a specific idea/invention/innovation/product or knowledge may not be protected by a patent after it has been it has been submitted.

If you believe your idea has commercial potential, please contact the Intellectual Property Office for advice before you submit your idea.

Registration Details

We do not pass on any of your personal information when dealing with your registration of interest or competition entry.

The information you supply will be held in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1988 and the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Information will only be used for its intended purpose.

Under the Data Protection Act, we have a legal duty to protect any information we collect from you. We use leading technologies and encryption software to safeguard your data, and keep strict security standards to prevent any unauthorised access to it.

We do not pass on your details to any third party or other government department.
